- Installation of boilers
- Siting, foundations, boiler rooms, accessories
- Inspection and testing of boilers
- Waterside vs. Fireside: inspection and maintenance procedures
- Boiler tubes, drums, headers, refractories
- Firing equipment and devices
- Valves: blowoff, stop, check, pressure-reducing
- Boiler safety, and pressure relief devices
- Plant operational procedures
- Operational and maintenance logs
- Water chemistry and types of chemical treatments
- Scale, corrosion, sludge, pitting, carryover
- Laying up idle boilers: wet and dry methods
