  • Next-Gen Sensor Devices: Beyond Sight, Smell, Sound, and Touch

    PDH Course Description:

    This advanced professional development course explores the frontier of sensor device technology beyond the classical five human senses. Engineers and applied scientists will examine the principles, design architectures, materials, and emerging technologies shaping a new era of sensors. The course introduces transduction mechanisms for detecting parameters not accessible through traditional sensory analogs such as electric fields, radiation spectra, molecular signatures, magnetism, and biochemical gradients.

    Through a multidisciplinary lens, the curriculum navigates through MEMS/NEMS innovations, biohybrid sensor models, artificial intelligence integration, and quantum sensing. It further investigates hypothetical models and experimental implementations of sensor systems that extend far beyond conventional domains, serving critical roles in health monitoring, autonomous systems, precision agriculture, nanomedicine, smart infrastructure, and extraterrestrial exploration.
