Nevada Professional Engineer Renewal
Nevada professional engineers complete 30 professional development hours during each biennial renewal period, including 2 hours of professional ethics and 1 hour devoted to Nevada Chapter 625 engineering statutes and regulations.

Complete 30 PDH every two years, including 2 ethics hours and 1 Nevada law-and-rules hour. Up to 15 excess PDH may carry into the next biennium, but carried hours cannot satisfy the next period’s ethics or Nevada-law components. Nevada expressly recognizes qualifying online courses and self-study.

Acceptable Activities
A qualifying activity must maintain, improve, or expand the licensee’s skills and knowledge and be relevant to the discipline in which the licensee practices. Nevada recognizes several structured and independent learning formats.
Online and Self-Study Education
The Board identifies correspondence, televised, videotaped, and online professional-ethics courses as acceptable options when the subject is relevant and the activity is successfully completed. Nevada also expressly awards 1 PDH for each hour of qualifying self-study and does not state a separate self-study or online-hour cap in NAC 625.470.
A structured online course may qualify when its engineering content maintains or improves professional competence and the licensee keeps sufficient completion evidence. Course acceptance remains the Board’s decision.
The Nevada-specific hour is distinct: only education actually addressing Chapter 625 of the Nevada Revised Statutes and Administrative Code should be claimed for that component. A general ethics course does not automatically meet the Nevada-law requirement.
Exemptions and Special Situations
An exemption may be available when the initial license was issued during the current biennium or less than two years before that biennium began.
A licensee who served more than 120 consecutive days on active duty in the United States Armed Forces during the biennium may apply for an exemption.
A licensee employed outside the United States who spent more than 120 consecutive days abroad during the biennium may apply with supporting evidence.
An exemption may be requested when a serious illness or injury during the final year of the biennium prevented completion of the requirement.
Documentation and Audit
Licensees must keep a completed Board continuing-education form and proof of each claimed activity for at least three years. Acceptable proof may include a certificate or another document showing successful completion, a publication reference or copy, or a patent reference or copy.
The Board reports that it randomly selects 100 licensees after a renewal period and requests documentation supporting the PDH reported. If the Board accepts fewer than 30 hours, it must notify the licensee within 60 days after the renewal submission; the deficiency generally must be cured within six months after the application was submitted.
