This course is based on a EPA basic guidance manual on common disinfectants and oxidants.Topics:
- Ozone chemistry and system components
- Oxygen, gas, and air feed systems
- Types of compressors used in air preparation systems
- Low, medium, and high frequency ozone generators
- Bubble diffusers and contactors
- Sidestream ozone injection systems
- Turbine mixer contactors
- Instrumentation, operation, monitoring, and maintenance
- Primary uses and points of application
- DBP precursor control
- Impact on other treatment processes
- Biologically active filtration
- Slow sand, rapid rate, and activated carbon filters
- Pathogen/Microorganism/Bacterial/Virus/Protozoa inactivation
- pH, temperature, and suspended matter
- Ozonation disinfection byproducts
