  • EPA Local Gov Climate-Resource Conservation & Recovery

    Credits: 2 PDH

    PDH Course Description:

This online engineering PDH course describes how local governments can help achieve environmental goals by encouraging source reduction and the reuse of products and materials, as well as composting and recycling wastes generated by their communities.

These strategies are collectively known as resource conservation and recovery and have as their aim a reduction in waste management costs, air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and energy consumption. This course describes the process of developing and implementing resource conservation and recovery measures, using real-world examples.

    Topics:

    • Source reduction and reuse
    • Recycling
    • Composting
    • Waste treatment with energy recovery
    • Landfilling and incineration without energy recovery
    • Strategies for effective program implementation
    • Costs and funding opportunities
