  • Engineering Properties of Rock Materials

    Credits: 5 PDH

    PDH Course Description:

To use rock in engineering applications, certain properties of the rock must be assessed to reasonably predict performance in the as-built condition. The properties of rock fall into two broad classes: rock material properties relating to the rock itself and rock mass properties relating to the in-place rock mass, including its discontinuities. This course provides a general overview of these rock properties as they apply to engineering applications along with rock material classifications..

    Topics:

    • Engineering Properties of Rock
    • Material Properties of Rock
    • Rock Mass Properties
    • Stratigraphic and Structural Discontinuities
    • Properties Related to both Rock Material and Mass
    • Rock Material Field Classification System
    • Rock Surveys
