  • Accuracy Standards for Control and Topographic Surveys

    Credits: 2 PDH

    PDH Course Description:

This course provides recommendations for accuracy standards and related criteria to be used in large-scale site plan topographic surveys for engineering and construction purposes. These standards are specifically applicable to surveys conducted for civil and military projects such as buildings, utilities, roadways, runways, flood control and navigation projects, and training ranges. The surveys are intended to accurately locate, align, and stake out construction activities.

The purpose of these engineering surveys extends beyond construction purposes. They also serve as the foundation for various activities including area mapping, GIS (Geographic Information System) development, preliminary planning studies, detailed site plan drawings for construction plans, construction measurement and payment, preparation of as-built drawings, installation master planning mapping, future maintenance and repair activities, and other AM/FM (Automated Mapping/Facilities Management) products.

    Topics:

    • General Surveying and Mapping Specifications
    • Accuracy Standards for Engineering and Construction Surveying
    • Accuracy Standards for Maps and Related Geospatial Products
    • Photogrammetric Mapping Standards and Specifications
    • Cadastral or Real Property Survey Accuracy Standards
    • Hydrographic Surveying Accuracy Standards
    • Structural Deformation Survey Standards
    • Geodetic Control Survey Standards
    • State and Local Accuracy Standards
    • ADD/GIS Technology Center Standards
    • Mandatory Standards
