  • Engineered Aspects of Vertical Farming Facilities

    PDH Course Description:

    This course provides an in-depth technical exploration of the engineered systems and subsystems integral to the design, construction, and operation of vertical farming facilities. It is intended for licensed engineers and other professionals engaged in the planning, development, or regulation of controlled environment agriculture (CEA). Topics span structural, mechanical, electrical, environmental, and water systems, including design codes, energy modeling, hydroponic technologies, automation, and sustainability frameworks.

    By the end of this course, participants will be able to: 
    • Evaluate structural and environmental design considerations unique to vertical farms 
    • Understand integration strategies for HVAC, lighting, and nutrient systems 
    • Design water treatment and recycling systems specific to vertical agriculture 
    • Model energy and thermal performance in multilevel growing environments 
    • Assess control systems for automation, sensing, and facility management
