Topic outline

  • Failure Case Studies in Renewable Energy Implementation

    Credits: 2 PDH

    PDH Course Description:

This course provides an in-depth examination of real-world failure case studies in renewable energy implementation across multiple technologies and geographic regions. By dissecting technical, economic, regulatory, and socio-political breakdowns in projects such as solar farms, wind energy installations, bioenergy systems, and grid integration efforts, licensed engineers will gain a grounded understanding of the complexities and risks inherent in renewable energy deployment.

Emphasis is placed on analyzing root causes, identifying lessons learned, and applying best practices to future projects. This continuing education course meets PDH standards for multidisciplinary engineering professionals and includes case-based technical analysis, project lifecycle evaluation, and risk mitigation strategies.

    Topics:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

    • Analyze and articulate the root causes of failure in renewable energy projects.
    • Evaluate technical and systemic shortcomings across various technologies including solar, wind, bioenergy, and hydro.
    • Interpret economic and regulatory dynamics that contributed to project derailments.
    • Apply forensic engineering principles to assess failed infrastructure.
    • Develop engineering recommendations to mitigate future failures and improve resiliency.
    • Integrate cross-disciplinary insights to improve planning, design, and operational phases of renewable energy systems.
