Professional Development Guidance

Arizona does not currently impose a continuing education requirement for Professional Engineer license renewal. Even so, professional development remains a prudent practice for engineers who perform technical work, supervise engineering decisions, manage design risk, or maintain licenses in multiple jurisdictions.

Engineers licensed in Arizona and another state should follow the most restrictive continuing education requirement that applies to their active licenses. Courses completed for another state may also support professional competency and documentation needs.

Important Compliance Notes

Because Arizona does not require PE continuing education, there is no Arizona-specific PDH carryover, ethics minimum, provider approval requirement, or PDH audit process for PE renewal. However, licensees should not assume that Arizona’s rule applies to any other state where they are licensed.

Multi-state licensees should maintain completion certificates and course records for jurisdictions that require continuing education documentation.

Documentation and Multi-State Licensure

Arizona PE renewal does not require PDH records. However, engineers who hold licenses in states with mandatory continuing education should retain certificates of completion, course descriptions, provider information, dates of completion, and PDH values for audit purposes in those jurisdictions.

Keeping organized records is still recommended for professional practice management, employer verification, and future licensure applications.

Arizona Renewal Preparation Checklist

Before renewing an Arizona PE license, confirm the individual license expiration date, review the Arizona Board’s current renewal instructions, update contact information if needed, and complete the renewal process through the Board’s licensee portal. If you hold PE licenses in other states, confirm and complete those states’ PDH requirements separately.
