Montana
Continuing Professional Competency (CPC) Requirements
Montana Board of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors.
|
Montana - Continuing Educational Requirements: |
Hours Required: | 30 hours biennially (1 PDH unit = 1 CPC unit = 1 CPD unit) |
Renewal Dates: | June 30st (even-numbered years for all engineers) |
Board Approved Courses or Providers? | The Montana board does not pre-approve course providers or specific courses. Each engineer must determine whether a course satisfies their state board’s CPC requirements. |
Approved Subject Matter: | The course must have a “clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge relevant to the licensee’s field of practice.” Note: A maximum of 10 PDH will be allowed per renewal cycle for self-study, which is considered a formatted review of new subject matter or technical information such as video tapes series, Internet courses that do not include a final examination, etc. However, our courses have a final exam, and therefore do not qualify as self-study, making them acceptable as continuing education for the entire 30 PDH requirement. |
Are Online Courses Allowed? | Online, web-based courses are specifically listed as an approved activity, with no limit on the amount of hours received through online continuing education. |
PDH Carryover: | 15 PDH (max) may be carried forward into the next renewal period. |
