CE Rules and Regulations


Kansas - Continuing Educational Requirements:
Hours Required:
30 hours biennially
(1 PDH unit = 1 CPC unit = 1 CPD unit)

Date of Renewal:
  • April 30th (even-numbered years for licensees whose last name begins with one of the letters A through L)
  • April 30th (odd-numbered years for licensees whose last name begins with one of the letters M through Z)
Board Approved Course Providers?
Online, web-based courses are specifically listed as an approved activity, with no limit on the amount of hours received through online continuing education.

Approved Subject Matter:
  • A continuing education activity is “an activity that enhances a licensee’s level of technical, professional, managerial, or ethical competence in order to further the goal of protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the public”
  • Courses must have a “clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve, or expand the skills and knowledge related to a licensee’s field of engineering practice.”

Are Online Courses Allowed?

Online, web-based courses are specifically listed as an approved activity, with no limit on the amount of hours received through online continuing education.
PDH Carryover:
15 PDH (max)
may be carried forward into the next renewal period, with the exception of no carryover hours allowed during the first reporting period.

Other Specific Requirements:
  1. Recordkeeping for Audit Purposes: PDH completion records must be maintained for a minimum of 4 years for audit purposes. (See our Audit-Assist Guarantee!)
