Utah - Continuing Educational Requirements:
Hours Required: 30 PDH biennially (1 PDH unit = 1 CPC unit = 1 CPD unit)
Renewal Date:
March 31st (of odd-numbered years)

Board Approved Courses or Providers? The Board does not pre-approve providers or specific courses. Each engineer must determine whether an activity meets the Board’s requirements.

Approved Subject Matter:
  • The course must have an “identifiable clear statement of purpose and defined objective.
  • Be relevant to the licensee's professional practice.
  • Be presented in a competent, well organized and sequential manner consistent with the stated purpose and objective of the program.
  • Be prepared and presented by individuals who are qualified by education, training and experience
  • Have associated with it a competent method of registration of individuals who actually completed the professional education program and records of that registration and completion are available for review.

Are Online Courses Allowed? Online, web-based courses are specifically listed as an approved activity, with no limit on the amount of hours received through online continuing education.
PDH Carryover:
15 PDH (max) may be carried forward into the next renewal period.

Other Specific Requirements:
  1. Pro-rated CE during first renewal period: The CE required for the first period of renewal is pro-rata based.
  2. Recordkeeping for Audit Purposes: PDH completion records must be maintained for a minimum of 4 years for audit purposes. (See our Audit-Assist Guarantee!)
