Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Requirements

Oregon - Continuing Educational Requirements:
Hours Required:
30 PDH biennially
(1 PDH unit = 1 CPC unit = 1 CPD unit)

Renewal Dates:
  • Dec. 31st (of odd-numbered years for licensees with last names beginning with A through F.)
  • June 30th (of odd-numbered years for licensees with last names beginning with G through K).
  • December 31st (of even-numbered years for licensees with last names beginning with L through R).
  • June 30th (of even-numbered years for licensees with last names beginning with S through Z).
Board Approved Courses or Providers?
The Oregon board does not pre-approve course providers or specific courses. Each engineer must determine whether a course satisfies their state board’s CPC requirements.

Approved Subject Matter: Courses should be technical in nature and must pertain to the engineer’s license.

Are Online Courses Allowed? Online, web-based courses are specifically listed as an approved activity, with no limit on the amount of hours received through online continuing education.
PDH Carryover
15 PDH (max)
may be carried forward into the next renewal period.

Other Specific Requirements:
  1. Dual licensees, the number of PDH remains 30 biennially.
  2. In accordance with Oregon Administrative Rule (OAR) 820-010-0635 and OAR 820-015-0026, each registrant is charged with the responsibility of maintaining PDH records of completion for the biennial renewal schedule. If audited, a registrant must report and submit to the OSBEELS office the details of PDH units acquired. PDH units must be recorded on the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Form.
  3. Recordkeeping for Audit Purposes: PDH completion records must be maintained for a minimum of 5 years for audit purposes. (See our Audit-Assist Guarantee!)
