Continuing Professional Competency (CPC) Requirements

Online-PDH is presently approved by the NJBELS as a provider of continuing education for PE's:

New Jersey State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.

Subject New Jersey - Continuing Educational Requirements:
Hours Required
24 PDH biennially. At least 2 hours must be in the area of “professional practice ethics.”

Renewal Dates April 30th of even numbered years
Board Approved Courses or Providers?
New Jersey’s Board is charged with approval of continuing education courses and/or providers for engineers. State regulations require that all continuing education courses must be taken from approved providers.
Approved Subject Matter:
  • All courses must be technical in nature and “relate to the practice of professional engineering with the clear purpose to maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge relevant to the practice of engineering.”
  • Courses in the area of practice management, practice marketing, or practice building are not acceptable.

Are Online Courses Allowed? Yes, online, web-based courses are specifically listed as an approved activity, with no limit on the amount of hours received through online continuing education.
PDH Carryover:
Maximum of 12 PDH may be carried forward into the next renewal period.

Other Specific Requirements:
  1. A minimum of 2 credits must be earned in the area of professional ethics. No more than 8 hours of ethics training can be credited in any one renewal period.
  2. Recordkeeping for Audit Purposes: PDH completion records must be maintained for a minimum of 5 years for audit purposes. (See our Audit-Assist Guarantee!)
