Specific CE Requirements


Indiana - Continuing Educational Requirements:
Hours Required: 30 hours biennially (1 PDH unit = 1 CPC unit = 1 CPD unit)

July 31 (even-numbered years)
Board Approved Course Providers?
  • Title 864 of the Indiana Administrative Code previously stated that courses approved by the Board were automatically accepted for PDH credit. In the fall of 2011, the Board suspended all ongoing course reviews.
  • If the Board has approved any of an organization’s courses, then all other courses by that organization will be accepted without the need for review or approval by the Board, as long as the course enhances the knowledge and skill of the engineer.

Approved Subject Matter:
  • Minimum (1) PDH must be in engineering ethics.
  • Minimum (1) PDH must be based upon the State of Indiana’s engineering laws and rules.
  • The course must be “designed to directly enhance a professional engineer’s knowledge and skill in providing services relevant to the practice.”

Are Online Courses Allowed?

Online, web-based courses are specifically listed as an approved activity, with no limit on the amount of hours received through online continuing education.
PDH Carryover:
15 PDH (max)
may be carried forward into the next renewal period.

Other Specific Requirements:
